The Complete Godzilla Bandai vinyl list
(Standard)
Final Wars

For Godzilla’s 50th Anniversary, Toho announced they would make one more Godzilla movie, bringing back and reinventing several of Godzilla’s old foes. “Godzilla, Final Wars” would have up to 20 monsters in the film and it was speculated if Bandai would make a vinyl representation of every monster.

Godzilla 2005

A new Godzilla suit was made for “Final Wars”. The suit is slimmer and is often compared to the Godzilla 55 suit. The tag is folded and pictures Godzilla 2005 on the front and inside of the tag with information. The Toho license sticker is gold and pictures the 50th Anniversary symbol with the year 2004.

Angilas 2005 & Rodan 2005

Body parts from salvaged kaiju suits were used to construct the new Angilas and Rodan suits. Destroyah’s tail and Dagarah’s body was used to make Angilas 2005 and Cretaceous Ghidorah’s legs were used for the Rodan 2005 suit. Both tags are the same manner as mentioned above, as well as the Toho license sticker except that both stickers are silver, not gold.

Fire Mothra 2005

The GMMG Mothra suit was reused for “Final Wars” and the Bandai Mothra 2004 was reissued in translucent red vinyl for the body as well as the wings. Fire Mothra was speculated to have fire abilities, but this look only represents Mothra being in flames just before flying into Upgrade Gigan. Burning Mothra would’ve been a more appropriate title. The tag is folded and pictures Fire Mothra 2005 on the front and inside of the tag with information. The Toho license sticker is gold and pictures the 50th Anniversary symbol with the year 2004.

Bandai produced Theater Exclusive figures of Godzilla 2005, Angilas 2005, and Rodan 2005. Godzilla is done in translucent blue vinyl with white highlights to represent Godzilla frozen in ice. Angilas and Rodan have alternate paint jobs when compared to the standards with many collectors expressing the new paint jobs as improvements. Tags for all three exclusives are single cards and picture the respected kaiju. Godzilla 2005 is in blue and white, Angilas 2005 is in brown and white, and Rodan 2005 is in grey and white. The Toho license sticker is the 50th Anniversary symbol with the year 2004, but Godzilla is in gold and Angilas and Rodan are in silver.

HMV Exclusives of Godzilla 2005 and Angilas 2005 were made in grey vinyl with painted grey highlights. An Ito Yokado Exclusive of Godzilla 2005 was made in translucent clear vinyl with white highlights and orange for the eyes. All three tags are the single card and done in black and white. The respected kaiju is pictured on each tag. The Toho license sticker is the same with the Godzilla figures having the gold sticker and the Angilas figure having the silver sticker.

Minya 2005 stands at 6 inches and is fairly faithful to the original Minya. An interesting surprise is that Bandai produced a figure of the Xian Alien. Standing just over 6 inches, the only time you see the Xian Alien in its true form in “Final Wars” is when it’s dead. The tag is folded and pictures Minya 2005 and Xian Alien 2005 on the front and inside of their respected tag with information. The Toho license sticker is silver for both figures and pictures the 50th Anniversary symbol with the year 2004.

What has become the most popular of the Bandai Final Wars toys, Gigan 2005 is reinvented with a new more deadlier look. The figure is very large and detailed. It has been mentioned that the back end of the spiked tail can easily be broken off. The tag is folded and pictures Gigan 2005 on the front and inside of the tag with information. The Toho license sticker is gold and pictures the 50th Anniversary symbol with the year 2004.

Gigan 2005

While Gigan is defeated in its first encounter with Godzilla, Gigan returns after being rebuilt and teams with Monster X in the climatic battle. Gigan’s second version has been refered to by different names, one example being “Chainsaw Gigan”. In “Final Wars” the Xian Leader announces Gigans return as “Upgrade Gigan”. Bandai made a new head and the chainsaw arms for Upgrade Gigan while reusing the mold for the body, upper arms, legs, and tail. Upgrade Gigan and Monster X have folded tags with their respected picture on the front and inside of the tag with information. The Toho license sticker is gold and pictures the 50th Anniversary symbol with the year 2004.

Monster X & Upgrade Gigan 2005

What appears to be a defeat to Godzilla, Monster X transforms in the powerful and hideous Kaiser Ghidorah. Bandai produced a very accurate representation of Kaiser Ghidorah, yet the front legs are unable to support to body which results in the legs spreading apart and the wings tend to sag. Collectors have used wire and paper to help correct this problem. Kaiser Ghidorah stands above 9 inches and is 14 inches long. The tag is folded and pictures Kaiser Ghidorah on the front and inside of the tag with information. The Toho license sticker is gold and pictures the 50th Anniversary symbol with the year 2004.

Kaiser Ghidorah 2005

As of this writing, Bandai has not announced schedule dates of any more monsters from “Final Wars”. Rumors of a vinyl King Seesar, Hedorah, and even Zilla have been going around, but with “Godzilla, Final Wars” receiving heavy criticism, its speculated Bandai will not take a chance in producing figures no one wants.

With “Godzilla, Final Wars” reportedly being the last Godzilla movie for a while, collectors speculate if Bandai will produce more vinyl toys. Only time will tell and if they do, expect this list to continue.
