The Complete Godzilla Bandai DX/Battery Operated Series

The Millenium Series Part 1

Toho returned Godzilla back to the big screen by the end of 1999 for the film "Godzilla 2000". For the first time since 1983, Bandai produced battery operated figures that didn't walk.

Battle Sound Godzilla 2000 & Orga

The Battle Sound Godzilla 2000 and Orga both roar when hit against each other, but it turns out that you have to go as far as to hit the toys on a table like you would a hammer to produce any sounds. On the plus side, the figures were made in the standard scale. The figures were released in the long window box and Godzilla's tail needed to be assembled. There is a Bootleg of the Godzilla 2000 with no electronics and found with its spines facing the wrong way.

Rumble and Roar Godzilla 2000

It was believed that Bandai was going to produce a DX Godzilla 2000 that would walk. Instead, the Rumble and Roar Godzilla 2000 is secured on a base and when activated, the spines light up, Godzilla's head moves side to side, then roars. The Box pictures the actual toy and includes a display enclosure that required assembly.

Both Rumble and Roar Godzilla 2000 and Battle Sound Set were poor sellers for Bandai. For the Toho film "Godzilla X Megaguirus", Bandai only produced one battery operated figure.

Real Action Godzilla 2001 (box)

As unpopular the last two battery operated figures were, it was a surprise for Bandai to release the Real Action Godzilla 2001 the following year.

Real Action Godzilla 2001 (box open)

After a five year absence of the Real Action Series, Bandai released the Real Action Godzilla 2001 which can easily pass as a Godzilla 2000. The box is the most attractive of the Real Action Series picturing the actual suits of Godzilla and Megaguirus.

For the Toho film "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Monsters All Out Attack" Bandai produced its first RC figure since 1995.

DX Godzilla 2002

The DX Godzilla 2002 can walk, move its body and head back and forth, and roar. The remote control is in a shape of a building. This figure was in action during Animal Planet's "It Came From Japan" documentary. The box pictures the actual toy and the tail needs to be assembled.

Real Action Godzilla 2002 (box)

The Real Action Godzilla 2001 must has been successful for Bandai to release a version of Godzilla 2002.

Real Action Godzilla 2002 (box open)

Interesting that Bandai had model expert Takuji Yamada sculpt the figure. Those unfamiliar with Master Yamada's work just needs to pick up a past issue of Hobby Japan EX. The box pictures the actual suits of Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Baragon. This would be the last Real Action figure Bandai would produce.
