Pack of Destruction
Bandai Creation's Pack of Destruction features 10 two and a half inch kaiju figures. The box has a wide display window where you can clearly view all the figures. The front right side top of the box features graphic artwork of Godzilla 2000 and the front bottom left displays one of the many Japanese castles that Godzilla has destroyed in his films. The back of the box features the ad for the Godzilla 6.5 inch figures. The left side of the box introduces the "Crumble Zone" playset, while the right side pictures artwork of Godzilla 84 and the caption reading:
"HE'S BACK BATTLING YOUR FAVORITE CREATURES FROM MOTHRA TO MECHAGODZILLA AND GIGAN TO KING GHIDORAH. HE'S BIG, HE'S GREEN, HE HAS OVER 98% UNIVERSAL AWARENESS! THIS MONSTER ICON HAS TERRORIZED HIS WAY INTO THE HEARTS OF MILLIONS SINCE 1954. WITH 26 MOVIE TITLES TO HIS CREDIT, TIME HAS SHOWN NOTHING CAN STOP GODZILLA".
The figures are held in place in a plactic tray with a plastic lid placed over them. the first sign of concern appears where the bottom of the box list only 9 monsters, including Baragon and King Ghidorah, which are not part of the set. Bandai Creation also fails to properly identify First Stage Destroyah and Mothra Larva, as well as not specifying the variation between Godzilla 54 and Burning Godzilla.
The following will be descriptions of each figure from the set, as well as comparisions to any counterparts from Bandai Japan.
When first inspecting the set, nearly all the figures have no points of articulation. Only two figures have the ability to rotate the arms and Godzilla 54 is one of them. The mold used for Godzilla 54 is very similiar to Bandai Creation's six inch Godzilla 54.
POD & High Grade Godzilla 54
Godzilla 54 stands 2.5 inches and has very little resemblence to Bandai Japan's Godzilla 54 from the High Grade Series 3.
Measuring almost three inches in length, Mothra Larva somewhat resembles Bandai Japan's standard Mothra Larva 92.
Bandai Japan's Mothra Larva from High Grade Series 7 is a complete different mold when compared to Bandai Creation's version, but similiar variations can be found in certain playsets from Bandai Japan and Yutaka.
With a wingspand measuring 3.5 inches and 2.5 inches in lenght, Mothra Adult is the third largest figure in the set. The wings are nicely raised to give Mothra the look of being in flight.
While there doesn't appear to be a Bandai Japan Mothra Adult that closely resembles the Bandai Creation figure, it appears the U.S. version is fashioned after the 92' Mothra Adult. Also, like Bandai Japan's Mothra Adult figures, The underside of the U.S. version's wings are not painted in detail as they are on the top of the wings.
Manda measures just over four inches long and would be longer is the figure wasn't in a coiled position.
Manda (side view)
Manda had made only two film appearances in Toho films at the time the Crumble Zone was released and the figure clearly represents the 63' version from the film "Artagon" sporting the long whiskers and horns. Bandai Japan has not produced a Manda figure comparable to the U.S. version.
Standing at two inches, The detail torwards the Bandai Creation Minya is rough and can be considered accurate to the way the infant kaiju appeared in the films. There's a big difference between the U.S. version and the Minya from Bandai Japan's High Grade Series 6.
POD & High Grade Minya
Standing at 2.5 inches, Bandai Creation's Gigan is well detailed, especially the wings and the buzzsaw going down its body, which looks much improved when compared to Bandai Japan's Gigan from High Grade Series 4.
POD & High Grade Gigan
This is the only other figure from the Pack of Destruction that can rotate its arms. Standing at 2.5 inches, Mogera is well detailed and somewhat similiar to Bandai Japan's Mogera from High Grade Series 1.
POD & High Grade Mogera
First Stage Destroyah
Standing two inches, Bandai Creation's First Stage Destroyah is very similiar to Bandai Japan's version for High Grade Series 7. Close inspection can reveal differences between the two figures, such as the end of the tail, different positioning of spikes on the appendeges, and the extra mouthpiece found on the Bandai Creation's version.
POD & High Grade First Stage Destroyah
Bandai Creation's Destroyah stands 2.5 inches with a wingspand of 4.5 inches and is the second largest figure in the Pack of Destruction. This figure has no resemblence to Bandai Japan's Destroyah from High Grade Series 2.
Standing at just over 2.5 inches and 4.5 inches in lenght, the Pack of Destruction's Burning Godzilla is the largest figure in the set. The mold for the Bandai Creation six inch Burning Godzilla was not used for the Pack of Destruction and has no resemblence to Bandai Japan's Burning Godzilla from High Grade Series 4.
